Fall has come and another successful Autumn Gallery event has gone by. Here is some photos of the event:
My paintings that were juried into this years event was Waterfall at Mill Creek, Through Shadow and light and Mill creek (Resting Spirits). The Autumn Gallery is one of our yearly events held in November through the Federation of Canadian Artists of the Central Okanagan chapter.
I have recently completed two paintings since the show. One winter painting of Mill creek and one Fall painting of Mission creek. I feel excited about the holidays. I am content with good food, and lots of painting.
I have a few more canvases ready to be primed with Gamblin ground. This, will keep me going through the holidays. My watercolor to will be fun to work with. The rest of the fun is exploring and enjoying the fresh air and paying attention to nature finding that perfect subject for my paintings. All the questions begin like – Why am I doing this painting ? What is it about the scene that I feel inspired by? should I do a series? What should be my focus point? and what colors/ and what temperature is this painting ? cool or warm . I like warm paintings since they are inviting and relaxing. With it hanging in the right place it makes a perfect spot to sit and relax next to.
I often look for other subjects besides creeks; but it has to really interest me. To be painterly. It sometimes doesn’t really matter of the subject. I tend to end up doing creeks because I am liking the feeling I get from them now. I understand the subject. Having to do something different allows you to visualize and express yourself differently. I like that.
My lighting is limited for photographing my paintings during the winter months. It takes the right time of day for it to happen and therefore more time for me to post my paintings. I will be able to show them in the next blog.
